DirectCrown® DC2
Enhanced Temporary Crowns

Instructions For Use

TOOTH PREPARATION & CROWN SHELL SELECTION

  • Prepare the tooth using standard preparation techniques.
  • Select the appropriate DirectCrown® DC2 crown shell that passively fits over the prepared tooth.
  • Try in the DirectCrown® DC2 crown shell by placing it over the prepared site and adjusting the buccal/lingual walls as necessary. Verify that the patient can close into centric occlusion by having them close gently on the DC2 crown shell.

PROCEED TO EITHER THE ACRYLIC INSTRUCTIONS OR BIS-ACRYL INSTRUCTIONS

DIRECTIONS USING ACRYLIC

MIX & FILL

  • Using the enclosed mixing bowl and liquid dropper, dispense 6-8 drops of liquid into the bowl.
  • Add the powder to the liquid until you reach a two-to-one ratio. Mix the powder & liquid together to achieve a “creamy” consistency. Add more powder (or liquid) as necessary.
  • Fill the selected crown shell with the mixed resin.

FIT

  • Seat the filled crown shell over the tooth preparation and have the patient gently bite down into proper occlusion.
  • Using an explorer (or other instrument), remove the excess material from the margins.
  • Allow the temporary crown to remain in the patient's mouth for approximately 20 seconds until the material begins to set but prior to complete set so that “lock on” does not occur. The fast cure acrylic included in the DC2 kit will set-up completely in approximately 2 minutes or less.
  • Remove the crown shell from the tooth preparation and replace it back into the mouth (repeat this process several times during acrylic set time).

TRIM & POLISH

  • Remove the fitted crown shell from the tooth preparation. Mark the margins with a pencil and trim as necessary.
  • Polish the crown with polishing instruments.

SEAT

  • Cement the DirectCrown® DC2 crown into place using a conventional, non-eugenol temporary crown and bridge cement.

DIRECTIONS USING BIS-ACRYL WITH BONDING MATERIAL

Note: Use Add&Bond™ primer from Parkell, Inc., with selected bis-acryl material. Follow Add&Bond instructions for use. Make certain to air abrade inside of crown shell before proceeding with the application of Add&Bond™.

PREP SHELL

  • Air abrade the inside of the DirectCrown ® DC2 crown shell.

LAYER & FILL

  • U sing either light-cure or self-cure bis-acryl material, apply a thin, even layer of Parkell's Add&Bond™ primer to the inside of the abraded crown shell. Apply a thin layer of the bis-acryl material and light-cure to activate the adhesive.
  • Following the bis-acryl manufacturer's instructions, fill the internal portion of the crown shell with the bis-acryl material.

FIT

  • Seat the crown shell filled with bis-acryl over the prepared tooth.
  • Allow the material to set according to the manufacturer's directions.

TRIM & POLISH

  • Remove the DirectCrown ® DC2 crown shell from the tooth while the material is still in the “elastic” phase and follow the bis-acryl manufacturer's instructions for removing excess material from the preparation site.
  • Remove the excess material and oxygen-inhibited layer from the crown shell using the bis-acryl product's recommended technique.
  • Polish the crown as desired.

SEAT

  • Adhere the DirectCrown ® DC2 crown using a conventional, non-eugenol, temporary crown & bridge cement.
